Driving down the Coast on Highway 1

We got up early again and had a breakfast buffet. We then headed down the coast to Big Sur. We stopped frequently to take photos and keep mom under an eight. We stopped and a fantastic beach and played for a little while.

Lunch near the Big Sur general store and campgrounds.

We stopped and enjoyed the smells of Elephant Seal Beach. There we thousands of seals covering the  beach for nearly a mile. They were fun to watch and listen to.

We made a brief stop at Cayucos to stretch and walk the pier.

We were able to see some dolphins jumping in the bay.

We then headed for our hotel in Santa Maria where we stayed the night.

Monterey Bay Aquarium and Carmel

Today we got up early as possible and checked out of the Marriott in San Francisco. We headed down to Monterey to go to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. It was about a two hour drive from San Francisco and we arrived at the aquarium around 11 AM. We puchased a membership which was apparently cheaper than buying individual tickets and spent the following few hours enjoying the exhibits. What an amazing place!

We even got to touch live stingrays.

After leaving the aquarium, we headed over to Chipotle for some lunch and then headed down to Carmel to check out the beaches. We spent the rest of the evening there watching the sunset.

After sundown, we drove to Salinas where we spent the night at the Fairfield Inn.
